What the world needs now...

is innovation. With the undeniable mark mankind is leaving on its environment, its new innovative ideas of living in harmony with the earth that has become necessary. The kind of innovation that really gets heads and ideas moving. Not the sort that comes from big wig corporations that sell you organic apple juice that has like 3lbs of waste just to package the thing. I'm talking real ideas. I'm talking the sort of ideas that come from the people. The kind that come out of necessity. When there is no other choice but to go green.

Instances of these ideas are coming from parts of the world that are considered 3rd world. They, out of necessity, have created some ideas such as the solar powered grill. A man in Thailand created this grill using specially designed mirrors and the sun as the energy source. The solar grill absorbs sunlight as energy and uses no additional fuels or energy source. It can cook a pre-marinated 3.5 pound chicken in about 10 minutes. Inspired by childhood experimentation with a magnifying glass, the man cooks up to 50 chickens a day and sells them for around $5 each. Of course, his shop is closed on days of overcast and rainy days, but he has no overhead in terms of maintaining fuel costs to cook the chickens and keep the shop going.

Another shinning example is when a boy in GuangDong China created a very ingenious contraption (though I'm pretty sure this idea was run in Gulligan's Island at one point or another). The boy bought a used washing machine from a local market and connected the canister to his bicycle. By pedaling the stationary bike, you turn the canister of the washing machine, thus spinning and washing the clothes. About an hour and a half later you have completed both a great workout and a few loads of clean laundry. Perfect way to save time and energy, while at the same time losing weight.
