Something fascinating to me came from a question that another blogger posed. We all heard the news about Bernard Madoff and his extraordinary ponzi scheme that swindled over $50 billion dollars...
Now investigators are putting forward this guy could have been running a scam all the way back to the 1970's...

This guy ran NASDAQ. If anyone could put together a scheme this guy could. But still that does not explain how he was able to get away with it for so long. Ev! idence is emerging that Madoff might have had help from inside the SEC...

But that still does not give us all the answers. And it was purely accidental that the cover story for Newsweek this week spoke about the behind the scenes story about the Bush administration's illegal wiretapping...

Now essentially what the Bush administration did was turn the capabilities of NSA technology which by law had always been used to detect information overseas back upon all of us instead. The program involves datamining and its enormous. It sifts through email, pho! ne calls and also...banking transactions.
Now we know it deals with banking transactions because it was due to irregularities with Elliot Spitzer's checking account that got him caught and led to his humiliation...

But hold the horses here.
Think about this. Elliot Spitzer was flagged because of his movement of few thousand dollars to different bank accounts. Now look at Madoff above. Madoff pulled off a swindle involving $50 billion dollars. Are you telling me it isn't reasonable to assume that both Spitzer's and Madoff's transactions were not both showing up through the NSA? $50 billion dollars is a lot of money. How did the FBI (because that is who hauled him in) get the information from the NSA and yet Madoff was not caught?...

I am not a big fan of conspiracy theory but can anyone reasonably explain to me how Madoff's $50 billion was not reported to the FBI by the NSA yet Elliot Spitzer and his thousands for prostitution did?
